Shekhar Kapur’s ‘Paani’ has been in the news for over a decade. It came as relief for the director when Yash Raj Films came on board for the Sushant Singh Rajput starrer in 2012. However, the film has continued to face delay and the latest news is that YRF have allegedly backed out from the project.
Speaking to Mid Day, a source revealed, “Shekhar and YRF have been at loggerheads over ‘Paani’, which has led to constant delay in taking it forward. So, YRF recently decided to wash its hands of the project, leaving the director to scour for another production studio for backing.”
Kapur is now apparently looking at international producers to back the ambitious project. The filmmaker had previously gone on record to state that many international producers were keen to associate with the film, but he wished to make it as a Bollywood venture.
