Writer Taarak Mehta passes away at 87

Popular Indian writer and columnist, Taarak Mehta has passed away at the age of 87.

Mehta was renowned for his column ‘Duniya Ne Undha Chashma’, which were adapted on television for Sony SAB TV’s blockbuster series ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’.

Hindustan Times reports that his family intends to donate Mehta’s body to science.

India Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also expressed his sadness at the loss of Mehta. “I would like to pay tribute to the noted playwright and comedy writer Taarak Mehta. He never left the side of satire and pen.”

Mehta was born in 1929 and died today due to old age, according to Mehta’s relative, Atul Bhatt.
