Workers walkout on the sets of ‘Padmavati’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali 340x

Last Friday a group of workers walked out during the shooting of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ over pay disputes.

It was reported in Mid-day that around 22 light workers had not been paid. Gangeshwar Shrivastav, president of the Allied Mazdoor Union said, “Around 22 light men working on the film hadn’t received wages for one and a half month. Even conveyance dues of Rs 100 a day wasn’t given to them.”

The shooting came to a halt for an hour and Bhansali asked the workers Union chairman Ram Kadam to step in to help resolve the matter. Kadam said “I am against stalling work, but the workers should be given their due. I spoke to Bhansali, who clarified there was a miscommunication and promised to clear the payment.”

‘Padmavati’ is set for release in November next year starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
