Woman who accused Karan Oberoi of rape arrested for faking attack

The 34-year-old woman who accused actor Karan Oberoi of rape has been arrested by Mumbai Police for staging a fake attack on herself.

India Today reports that the woman had earlier said she was attached by two people, who left with a note asking her to take back the case. Police then discovered that the victim had planned the entire attack so Oberoi’s name was tarnished by the negative publicity.

In an interview with IWM Buzz, Oberoi spoke about his ordeal. He said, “It has certainly been very tough. It has been quite an ordeal task in the last one and half months for me. But this is how it is. This is a shocking reflection of the time we live in. And this brings to notice the overwhelming need for a #MenToo. The entire system needs an overhaul. The system should be so strong that it should ensure that nobody else falls into this trap. I will be the voice for others and see to it that no other human, male nor female suffers.”

The woman will be soon produced in court for further investigations.
