Shah Rukh Khan has enjoyed much success at the box office when releasing movies on special holidays. ‘Chennai Express’ has made history and maybe Shah Rukh’s next, ‘Happy New Year’ could do the same as buzz suggests that the makers may choose to release it on Diwali next year.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Since this is a big film by Farah Khan,Happy New Yearcan’t be expected to be ready before mid-2014. If one looks at the holiday season from July onwards, first to arrive would be Eid. Then there is Independence Day, Dusshehra, Diwali and Christmas”.
Another insider also reveals, “Salman was out of equation this year but would be back with a vengeance as Sajid Nadiadwala’sKickarrives on Eid.Sanjay Leela Bhansali is bringing Akshay Kumar’sGabbaron Independence Day though Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty’sSingham 2may arrive on the same day too. On Dusshehra/Gandhi Jayanti weekend, Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand are bringing theirBang Bangwhile Christmas has been taken up by Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap forBombay Velvet“. This would leave on Diwali next year as the next suitable date to release Farah Khan’s multi-starrer.
Farah was quick to rubbish the news, “We haven’t locked any date yet. There are so many factors that come into play for a film’s release…We would be looking forward to a holiday release.”
Farah said that once Shah Rukh has finished promoting and enjoying the success of ‘Chennai Express’, a discussion will be had and an announcement will be made.
