Chinese mobile company, Vivo has beaten rivals to win the lucrative title sponsorship of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament between 2018 and 2022.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had invited applications through a tender process, with interest also from Motorola, Xaiomi, and Intex.
Incidentally, Vivo had replaced PepsiCo as title sponsors between 2013 and 2015. The Indian Express reports that the value of the new deal is is an astronomical Rs. 2,199 crore. This is a jump of 554% on the previous successful title sponsorship bid made by Vivo for two seasons.
