With actors and actresses collaborating with the Western film industry, it was only a matter of time before the musicians followed suit. News has it that composer duo Vishal-Shekhar have paired upwith mega English pop band The Vamps.

According toAsian Age, the collaboration had been in planning for months, until the two groups of musicians met through music record housesBottomline Media and Virgin EMI records, after which they composed a song at the beginning of the month. Talking about meeting the group Shekhar (Rajviani) expressed, “It was superb to work with The Vamps, they are good guys and extremely talented. We went in not really knowing each other, but in a few minutes of being there, they had taken the song that we had created for them and added their own vibe to it. There was a comfort and joy to the sessions we did and that is something I think you can hear in the track.”

The song is a fusion of Indian and English Rock sounds, where the composer went on to explain the two day process of making the song, in London where it was recorded, “When we were told this idea, it sounded like a good one. We threw in some ideas and that continued for sometime before we all were on the same page. We composed a tune on our way to London but when we entered the studio, we had no song in our head. But we finished the song in two days. We kind of wrote the song that would be in their comfort zone, but we have also added more a Indian and organic flavour to it; it۪s a great mix of Rock meets Indian music.”

Apparently, the English rock band weren’t too unfamiliar with the Bollywood music scene either, and managed to sing a little Hindi. “Well, they۪re singing a few lines in Hindi as well! They are aware of ‘Chamak Challo’ that became known globally. They knew our work and we knew what they were capable of. They also know how much love they can get from India,” Rajviani went on to add.

The Vamps also caught up with the media who were also all in praise of Vishal-Shekhar as well, as the expressed, “We had a great time recording with Vishal and Shekhar and it was fun to try something different from what we are used to. We are really excited for everyone to hear the single. It was fun showing them around London and we hope they will return the favour next month when we visit Mumbai. India is a country we have wanted to visit since we started as a band especially as we have such an incredible, loyal fan base there, so we can۪t wait to come over.”

Does this mean, the English rock band will have a place in the Indian Music Industry too?
