Vishal Bhardwaj’s Shakespeare trilogy goes to London

Vishal Bhardwaj who��recreated William Shakespeare’s classics ‘Macbeth’, ‘Othello’, and ‘Hamlet’ for India, with ‘Maqbool’ (2004), ‘Omkara’ (2006), and ‘Haider’ (2014) respectively. These three films will be showcased����at London’s BFI Southbank, for ‘Shakespeare on Film’, a festival commemorating Shakespeare’s 400th death anniversary.

TOI reports that films based on Shakespeare will be handpicked and shown. There will be a two day festival for India’s adaptations,��and will show Bhardwaj’s pieces. On this he said, “I feel honored to represent India on Shakespeare at such a global stage.”

Bhardwaj’s last ‘Haider’, starred Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor and received numerous accolades from critics and audiences worldwide.
