Virgin Media reacts to Sky Asia Pack changes

With Sky set to transform the UK Asian TV market by putting major TV channels Star Plus, ZEE TV and Sony Entertainment Television into the same pack for the first time this August, viewers on rival platforms are also expecting some sort of change. However, BizAsiaLive.com understands that Virgin Media – the second biggest television carrier of Asian channels in UK – is not planning to change anything immediately.

Talking to BizAsiaLive.com , a Virgin Media spokesperson said, “We’re committed to offering our customers a wide range of Asian TV channels. Customers who receive Mix (one of our basic packages) and above, already receive 11 Asian channels, including newly launched Islam Channel UK and Islam Channel Urdu. We’re always reviewing our bundles to ensure we offer our customers the best TV line-up and value for money, and are in talks with a number of TV channel owners to add even more content to our platform.”

From 1st August, Sky will offer Star Plus, Star Gold, Star Utsav, Life OK, ZEE TV, ZEE Cinema, ZEE Punjabi, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony MAX, Sony Mix and B4U Movies in its basic Sky subscription, which costs £22 per month. The Sky Asia Pack previously cost £15 per month on top of a Sky subscription.
