Viewers vote for more cricket on TV in poll

Cricket

Viewers have voted to see more international cricket on UK Asian television.

While most of the bigger Indian cricket rights sit with Sky Sports, cricket from other countries are shared amongst the likes of ZEE Network, Sony Entertainment Television Asia and Star TV. However, a resounding 290 votes (67%) out of the 434 votes submitted over the month went to international cricket. Wrestling, which has now started up in India was in second place with 40 votes (9%), followed by Kabaddi with 33 votes (8%). Incidentally, Star TV, which owns the rights to Pro Kabaddi League in India, decided against broadcasting the series in the UK this year. Last year, the tournament was shown on Star Gold and Life Ok.

The other options in the poll included snooker and ‘Other’ with 15 votes (3%) each, Badminton with 10 votes (2%), Indian tennis and chess with 4 votes (1%) each.

The BizAsiaLive.com poll was conducted via our website with readers picking one of the listed options. The BizAsia Poll ran for one month.
