Vidya Balan’s Indira Gandhi biopic stalled

Vidya Balan is set to turn producer for the Indira Gandhi biopic after she acquired the film adaptation rights for Sagarika Ghose’s book titled ‘Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister’.

While Balan is eager to get into the skin of the character, she has had to stall the project due to her other film commitments. The project, which was expected to be a film, then later changed to a web-series, is now expected to go on the floors next year.

A source told DNA India, “Vidya was busy with the shoot of NTR biopic and will be promoting it in December-January. She also begins shooting for Mission Mangal — inspired from India’s Mangalyaan mission of 2014 — with Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and others this month. So, the web series has been pushed ahead by a few months now. If everything goes well, Vidya will start the Indira biopic once she wraps this Akshay Kumar and R Balki collaboration.”
