As her list of interesting roles grows, actress Vidya Balan will soon have one more to add to it. Reports have it that Balan will soon be set to represent the late great Geeta Bali on screen in a Marathi biopic based on the life of actor-director Bhagwan Dada.

To be titled ‘Ek Albela’ the film will reflect the Dada’s life from his late 20’s onwards, and the challenges he had faced when making a film with Bali herself titled ‘Albela'(1951). To be helmed by director Shekhar Sartandel, Mumbai Mirror reported him stating, “I wanted someone with a very Indian face to play Geetaji and Vidya suits the part perfectly.”

He went onto say, “She’ll look like Geetaji from the original’50’s film and since Geetaji was a Hindi film star, Vidya won’t need to speak Marathi. We did a look test with her earlier, and Bhatte Saab (the make-up artist) did a great job making her look the part. She is a fabulous actress and its a great to work with her.”

Balan was also able to catch up with the media, where she revealed, “It’s an honour to be playing the effervescent Geeta Bali even if it is just a special appearance, and to be recreating Albela’ for a Marathi biopic on Bhagwan Dada.”

It looks like Balan may have another bit soon to come in her name.
