Vidya Balan to get Rs 13 crore to endorse saree brand?

Vidya Balan

National award and Padma Shri award winner, Vidya Balan has been the poster-girl for Indian dressing and has celebrated wearing sarees. She has also been the face of World Ethnic Day, organised in June to boost the use of traditionally made things in the cottage industries in rural India.

According to IANS, Balan was recently approached by a prominent silk saree brand to be the brand ambassador for their exotic product. The rumours suggest that the actress has been offered a whopping Rs 13 crores, to promote their product. The actress, who was recently seen in ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ (2015), is likely to participate in a year-long campaign that promotes traditional, hand-woven sarees made in India.

“Vidya has been approached to endorse the silk saree brand. They have approached her with a year-long contract with a remuneration of Rs 13 crore. She is a perfect choice to promote their brand with her pan-Indian appeal. Since Vidya’s remarkable success and body of work stand testimony to the fact that ethnic can be cool, they hope that roping in the actress will revive their brand at the national level,” says a source.

After Rekha, Balan is the only actress who drapes traditional silk sarees elegantly. The new generation actresses prefer to don only embellished designer sarees. However, Balan is also well known for wearing silk and cotton sarees. Her wardrobe has a wide collection of simple yet beautiful saree, which she collected while shooting in several parts of the country.
