Vidya Balan starts prepping for ‘Begum Jaan’

Vidya Balan is gearing up for the release of her next film ‘TE3N’ but she’s also prepping for the next project she’ll be shooting for which is ‘Begum Jaan’.

The actress will be essaying the role of a brothel madam in the film. She has started reading a book called ‘The Other Side of Silence’, by Urvashi Butalia, which delves into real-life experiences of the backdrop of the film. A source told TOI, “The book contains more than 70 interviews with those who witnessed the Partition first-hand. The survivors have particularly spoken about the crimes committed against women during that time. Since the film is set in that period, Vidya is finding the book extremely insightful. It is helping her understand the era better”.

The film is being made by the Bhatt camp and is a Hindi remake of Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’ (2015). It’s expected to go on the floors on 11th June.
