There doesn’t seem to be anything Vidya Balan can’t do. So it comes to no surprise thatMalayalam film maker Kamal has signed the actress for his forthcoming biopic film based on the life of controversial writer Kamala Das.

The film is said to be made in both Hindi and Malayalam, where it is to be split up into three parts. Talking of casting Balan, the film maker expressed toMumbai Mirror,“Vidya is one of the first actresses who explored female sexuality unapologetically in films like ‘Ishqiya’ (2010) and ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011). She was the perfect choice for the role since the beginning. I first approached her for the Malayalam film but now we will be shooting it as a bilingual, in Malayalam and Hindi simultaneously.”

The first part of the film will focus on Das’ married life, from the age of 15 where she first started writing and developed on expressing the subject of women’s sexuality. She then went onto write a biography which will be focused on in the second part, ending in the third part where Das converted to Islam.

It is said that though the shooting of the film doesn’t begin until the end of the year, Balan has already started vigorous research about Das’ life and what she needs to do to get into character.
