Vidya Balan, Shibani Dandekar & Minissha Lamba come out in support of Rhea

After receiving negative coverage since the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput in June, support is now pouring out for Rhea Chakraborty by Bollywood names.

Chakraborty has been the No.1 accused in Rajput’s demise, after his father filed an FIR against the actress and her family. She has been accused KK Singh of allegedly abetting the actor’s suicide and misappropriating his money.

In a number of support messages for Chakraborty, the Dandekar sisters have expressed their thoughts for the actress. Shibani – singer and actor said, “I’ve known Rhea Chakraborty since she was 16years old! Vibrant, strong, vivacious, such a bright spark… so full of life. I’ve witnessed such a stark contrast to this side of her personality over the last few months as her and her family (some of the kindest warmest best people you will ever meet) have experienced the most unimaginable trauma! We have watched the media behave like complete vultures on a witch-hunt, vilifying and torturing an innocent family to breaking point!”

She added, “Her basic human rights taken away as the media play judge jury and executioner! We have seen the death of journalism and a frightening side of humanity! What was her crime? She loved a boy, looked after him through his darkest days, put her life on hold to be there for him and when he took his own life she was crucified. What have we become? I’ve seen first hand what this has done to her mother’s health, how it has affected her father who gave his life to serving this country for 20 years, how quickly her brother has had to grow up and how strong he has had to be.”

She then stated, “I have so much love and respect for you, for the human being you are and for fighting this till the end knowing that you have the truth on your side… I’m sorry you had to go through this.. I’m sorry that we weren’t better. I’m sorry that so many people let you down, doubted you, weren’t there for you when you needed them the most. I’m sorry that the best thing you ever did in your life (looking after Sushant) led you to the worst experience of your life.. I’m so sorry .. I’m with you always. #JusticeforRhea.”

Anusha commented on the post, saying, “I’m crying, my heart hurts to know what they are doing to our little rabbit… She is our baby sister forever ❤️❤️❤️ #justiceforrhea.”

Musician Vishal Dadlani commented, “You’re a rock, @shibanidandekar. I’m proud of you, and lucky to count you among my very few friends. While I don’t really know Rhea, it’s heartbreaking to watch her be victimised by evidence-free conjectures in the media just so they can distract India from the real issues of Covid, China, the total failure of this government and the collapse of our Economy. Good on you for standing strong.”

Vidya Balan separately said, “It is so unfortunate that the tragic and untimely death of a beloved young star Sushant Singh Rajput has become a media circus. In the same breath, as a woman, my heart breaks at the vilification of Rhea Chakraborty. Isn’t it supposed to be ‘innocent until proven guilty’, or is it now ‘guilty until proven innocent’!?”

Meanwhile, Lamba in an interview said, “Because now enough is enough! Nothing about those wild accusations sat right with me. They didn’t make sense. Post Rhea’s interviews, which to me, resonated with truth and reason and logic, I could not just sit any more and be quiet. Give a human being the dignity of undergoing investigations without us pronouncing judgement based on conjecture, rumour and gossip.”
