Vidya Balan makes noble gesture

We all know that Vidya Balan was the brand ambassador of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyaan, now renamed as Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission). The actress has taken her charitable duties seriously it seems, as per her recent gesture.

According to DNA, the actress has recently donated Rs. 5 lakhs to an NGO. This amount was actually given to her as award money for her contribution to Indian Cinema when she was awarded Woman Icon of the Year.

The money will be utilised by the NGO Swades Foundation which is actively associated in works of rural empowerment. The founders of this NGO are Zarina and Ronnie Screwvala, founder and CEO of UTV group. The NGO aims towards building toilets in rural India as a part of the initiative.
