Viacom18 & ZEE triumph at ‘Promax India Awards 2019’

A crowd of over 200 engaged delegates, speakers, innovators, TV and marketing professionals, jury members and sponsors came together on 28th and 29th May to celebrate ‘Promax India Awards 2019’, with the theme ‘The New Wave’.

The event kick-started with boot camp sessions on day 1 with dynamic disruptors Dot Lung and Richard Hollman, who enthralled the Indian creative audience with their expertise. Master class sessions on day 2 began with equal exuberance. The robust speaker list comprised of the renowned creative director Rob Middleton, action director Lawrence Ribeiro, the innovative Ivor Crotty, and entrepreneur & storyteller Holley Murchison. There was also a power-packed OTT session moderated by Rajiv Bakshi and panelled by marketing heads of the biggest OTT players in the country, including Vijay Subramaniam from Amazon Prime India, Ali Hussein from Eros International, Aparna Acharekar from ZEE5 India, Zubin Dubash from Shemaroo Entertainment and Gautam Talwar who represented MX Player.

The fiery discussions were followed by the much- awaited ‘Promax India Awards’, that honoured and rewarded this year’s biggest creative teams in TV. The awards brimmed with powerful emotions and memorable moments from the winners. The host for the awards, VJ Zerxes Wadia ensured to keep the audiences captivated with his charismatic personality. He was also joined by the delightful VJ Ayesha, who hosted the masterclasses during the day.

This year, Viacom18 and ZEE swept the awards with Viacom18 winning 32 trophies and ZEE grabbing 26 trophies. Close behind were Star and Sony with 20 trophies and 14 trophies, respectively.

It is important to celebrate the amazing work being done at a time where the sheer volume of great content and increased choices requires the support of great, strategic marketing”

THree new categories that were introduced last year- ‘Most Outstanding Marketing Initiative (In House and Out of House) and ‘Most Outstanding Design in Promotion’ did not award silver trophies second year in a row. The gold trophies for these cutting-edge categories were taken home by Sony, Star India, and Viacom18, respectively.

There were many exciting firsts for the ‘Promax India Awards’ this year. To catch the dynamic digital wave, Promax India had added brand-new digital categories to its roster. These included ‘Best Social Media Campaign for A Channel’ and ‘Best Content for Digital’. Additional fresh categories this year included ‘Set Design (Physical or Digital)’ and an upgrade to the pre-existing special category, ‘Best Promo Not in Hindi Or English’.
