Viacom18 obtains TV licence for new Indian channel

Viacom18 is reportedly planning to launch a new Hindi channel, tentatively titled Bandhan.

According to Television Post, the broadcaster has obtained a licence from Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) for the new service.

Currently, it is not known what the channel will be. Reports say that Bandhan could be either a Hindi movies channel, which the group does not have. Alternatively, it could be a second entertainment pay channel.

A source told TelevisionPost, ���Viacom18 has got a licence from the MIB. No final plans have been firmed up to launch in which genre. It is not even decided whether Bandhan will be the final name of the channel.”

Viacom18 launches its new English entertainment channel, Colors Infinity at the end of the month.
