Viacom18 in spat with Kumar Mangat over ‘Drishyam 2’ remake?

2015’s ‘Drishyam’ was all set to get a second instalment, as the South version has already been released. But no sooner did the announcement arrive that there’s been an apparent spat between Kumar Mangat and Viacom18. Mangat has announced ‘Drishyam 2’ in conjunction with Panorama Studios, and not with Viacom 18.

“Viacom 18 Motion Pictures have told Mangat that the franchise’s rights belong to them too, and hence, he cannot dissociate himself and make the second part on his own or with someone else. The very fact that Mangat yet went ahead to set up the stage for it has irked them and hence, they’ve filed a legal complaint against him. The first hearing of the case in question is going to be held, very soon,” said a source, as reported by E Times.

Although Viacom18 have remained silent when contacted, Mangat has confirmed that he’s to produce the film with Panorama Studios.

It’s due to bring together Ajay Devgn and Tabu.
