Veteran star Viju Khote passes away at 77

Veteran star Viju Khote has passed away at the age of 77.

The actor known for the iconic ‘Kalia’ role in ‘Sholay’ had appeared in a number of Hindi and Marathi films, along with television shows and stage plays.

“He passed away on Monday at 6.55 am peacefully in his sleep at his residence. He had been unwell for quite some time. He had multiple organ failure,” actor Bhavana Balsavar, his niece, told PTI.

He made his debut in the 1964 film ‘Ya Malak’. He also had memorable roles in films like ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Qurbani’, ‘Karz’, ‘Nagina’ and ‘China Gate’.

He is the younger brother of Shubha Khote.
