Veteran singer SP Balasubramaniam passes away

Veteran singer SP Balasubramaniam has passed away after nearly two months in hospital.

As reported on BizAsiaLive.com, Balasubramaniam’s health deteriorated over the last 24 hours.

He was hospitalised on 5th August for coronavirus. He tested negative a month later but remained on a ventilator to support his breathing. While his health was improving, officials at the hospital confirmed yesterday that he was placed on maximum life support.

The statement from the hospital at the time said, “Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare on August 5th, remains on ECMO and other life support measures. His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical. The team of experts at MGM Healthcare are closely monitoring his health condition.”

Since the news about the singer’s death emerged, a number of leading film industry stars have expressed their grief and condolences. Hema Malini and Soundarya Rajinikanth were among the first to pay tributes, along with politicians H D Deve Gowda, Shiva Kumar and Khushbu Sundar.
