Veteran BBC journalist Rahila Bano to depart after 35 years
Rahila Bano will leave the BBC on 28th arch after 35 years in journalism and broadcasting, Radio Today reports.
A key figure in the BBC’s ‘Money and Work’ team, Bano has played a significant role in bringing diverse voices to major programmes like ‘Wake Up to Money’, ‘World Business Report’ and ‘Business Matters’. She also co-founded BBC Salaam, a support network for Muslim staff and allies.
Throughout her career, Bano has held roles including Deputy Editor for Regional Specialist Programmes, Head of Radio Manchester, and News Editor in Local Radio. As an Asian Affairs Specialist Reporter for over two decades, she covered major stories in the UK and abroad, from political interviews to investigative reports.
Last year, she produced and presented a documentary on personal loss, ‘How I Chose to Remember My Mum After Her Death’.
