Venus TV’s CEO Kuldeep Shekhawat resigns

The CEO of Venus TV, Mr Kuldeep Shekhawat has resigned from his position with the channel as of yesterday morning (27th Nov 2006).

Shekhawat has been with Venus TV since its launch a year ago. According to the grapevine, Kuldeep quit over controversy surrounding Venus TV’s show titled ‘Table Talk’, hosted by a Dr. Ashraf Chauhan.

The content of the show was brought to the attention of the High Commission of India after questions of prejudiced nature against Indians were asked freely during the one-hour show in which a state Minister of U.P, a state in India was being interviewed by Dr. Ashraf Chauhan.

The questions further led to more of a personal nature which were clearly not suitable to the show’s criteria and evidently put the Minister in a rather embarrassing situation. The programme has caused quite an uproar.

Kuldeep took the decision to resign with immediate effect, taking full responsibility for the entire situation and offering apologies to all those offended by the comments which came from a channel which boasts viewership for both major Asian communities, Hindu and Muslim.

When contacted Venus TV, they said “Although the resignation has been considered but it has not been officially accepted.”

Kuldeep on the other hand is adamant that he has departed from his company and will move on to his film distribution projects. He said, “This is an email to clarify that yes I have resigned from Venus TV with immediate effect.”

It has not yet been announced as to who will replace Kuldeep’s position at Venus TV. The channel is celebrating one-year on air next week.
