Vasan Bala to sign Varun Dhawan for martial arts film?

Filmmaker Vasan Bala is reportedly set to sign Varun Dhawan for his next film based on martial arts.

Mumbai Mirror reports that the script of the film tentatively titled ‘Side Hero’ is one that was selected for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. The Lab is a biannual workshop for writers that boasts names of Hollywood stalwarts like Oscar winning directors Robert Redford and Katheryn Bigelow as its creative advisors.

A source told the paper, “Varun was completely bowled over when he read the script. He is the apt choice for the role. Given his commercial viability today he can ensure more visibility for this offbeat subject.”

Bala told the paper that he would like Dhawan to lead the cast but it was too early to discuss the project.
