Varun-Sara to head to Bangkok in August for ‘Coolie No.1’

Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan who are coming together for the first for the remake of ‘Coolie No. 1’ (1995), will head to Bangkok in August to kick-start the shoot.

According to India Today, David Dhawan is currently on recce in Bangkok, “David ji is currently on a recce in the Thai capital city. The overseas stint will be followed by a schedule in Goa,” shares a close source.

The source further added, “The idea this time too is the same as filming abroad gives the film a fresh vibe. The basic premise of a coolie caught between two girls remains the same but there are many new changes in the screenplay for it to appeal to today’s audience.”

The source also revealed the release date for the film will be 1st May 2020, which ties in with Labour Day in India, “The date is apt because May 1 is Labour Day and the story revolves around a coolie and his profession.”

In a separate interview with IANS, the ‘Kalaank’ (2019) actor expressed his excitement about the remake, “I feel honoured, grateful and uncontrollably excited to be a part of the remake! That’s the next challenge that I’m ready to take up.”

Dhawan further added the remake will be completely different to the original, “When we do something like this the idea is that the essence has to be the same. But at the same time, the film is completely different. It is not a remake, it is an adaptation. But the title is the same.”

There are reports that Jacqueline Fernandez will also star in the film as the ‘Simmba’ (2018) actress’ sister, and Paresh Raval has been approached to essay the late Kader Khan’s character.
