Bollywood director, David Dhawan recently said that his son Varun can’t work with him until 2016 as he is very busy shooting for his films these days.

Known for many hit comedies, David also feels very proud as the way Varun-Alia starrer ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ (2014) has shaped his son’s career-graph in the industry.

“I will work with him (Varun) but in 2016. He is already busy doing films. He is going to start in Rohit’s (Dhawan’s elder son) film soon. Rohit will direct him for his yet untitled project,” David told PTI.

He also went on to praise producer-director Karan Johar for launching Varun in the 2012 college drama ‘Student of the Year’, through his banner. He said, “Karan (Johar) is the first father and I am his second father. Varun has come from a right banner and if you talk to me.. I am happy as a father. I am a filmmaker who has made so many films. But Varun began by working with Karan and that makes him what he is today. God bless Karan for nurturing young talents.”

David also admired his favourite actor Govinda with whom he had worked in the 90’s in films like ‘Raja Babu’ (1994), ‘Coolie No.1’ (1995) and ‘Hero No.1’ (1997). He is happy with his friend’s comeback in the industry with biggies like ‘Kill Dil’ (2014) and ‘Happy Ending’ (2014).

David is also known for nurturing young talents and has worked with some of them like Ali Fazal, Ileana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri. When asked about the young breed, he said, “They are very serious guys who are doing well. They have a great future ahead.”
