Varun Dhawan turns down Mohit Suri’s ‘Half Girlfriend’?

There was a strong indication that Varun Dhawan would be male lead in Mohit Suri’s next ‘Half Girlfriend’ which would be the on-screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book of the same name. However, it seems Dhawan decided against being a part of the project.

Interestingly, when Dhawan was asked about the film, he said that he hadn’t been approached. A source divulged to Deccan Chronicle, “Varun was just being nice. He didn�۪t want others to know that he was approached first, just in case it makes other heroes uncomfortable about being the second choice”.

“Mohit did meet Varun a few months ago to discuss this project. The idea really excited Varun, but after a point he politely turned the offer down. He was doing other movies and felt it wasn�۪t the right time to do this kind of script,” added the insider.

Rumours have also indicated that Alia Bhatt or Kriti Sanon could be female lead in the film but nothing has been confirmed.

Ekta Kapoor will be producing the film.
