Varun Dhawan is returning to commercial entertainers with ‘Street Dancer 3D’ and ‘Coolie No. 1’ after two years of exploring more serious, dramatic roles.
Dhawan shared his excitement about his slate of upcoming masala films in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, “Yeah, I’m getting back to the commercial child-friendly genre. I want to do such films the minute I start missing them. The timing is right for us because January has several important films on serious issues,” adding that, “I love being an entertainer, and making people smile is a big deal with our family. My dad’s films have always spread happiness too.”
Revealing more about the much-anticipated ‘Coolie No. 1’, he shared, “It’s a film for this generation though we have retained the screenplay, which was brilliant. Sara (Ali Khan) and I are trying to do what our seniors – Govinda and Karisma Kapoor did in the original, under David Dhawan’s direction. It’s been a crazy ride. It’s not a remake but more of an adaptation.”
‘Street Dancer 3D’ is releasing on 24th January. ‘Coolie No. 1’ is scheduled for 1st May.
