Varun Dhawan: “I truly believe hip-hop is not only about looking or acting cool”

Varun Dhawan is no one new to dancing. After making everyone groove to the beats of his last, ‘Judwaa 2’ (2017), he has now not only featured in an hip-hop music video, but is also set to judge an national hip-hop competition.

As according to Pune Mirror, the music video titled ‘Ready to Shuffle’, features rappers Divine and Sri Rascol. On the competition, an excited Dhawan said, “I’ve joined hands with some of the coolest hip-hop stars for this movement. Around two months ago, we set off on a journey to zero in on the finest hip-hop dances and crew members from across the country. The plan was to handpick the best and get them down to Mumbai so that they could participate in India’s biggest hip-hop dance festival. Now, after five regional rounds in Kolkata, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, the grand finale will be on November 11th and I’m extremely excited to be judging it. It’s an honor, it’s gonna be real awesome y’all”

He adds that hip-hop is an form of expression, saying, “Hip-hop as a culture has been growing in popularity in India over the last few years and several breakout artists of the once-underground genre are now headlining music festivals and making their way into Bollywood. I truly believe that hip-hip is not only about looking or acting cool. This genre of music and dance expresses what other songs fail to. So this festival gives everyone the freedom to portray hip-hop as a voice and a movement.”
