Varun Dhawan apologises for nepotism comment

During last weekend’s IIFAs in New York, it’s thought that Varun Dhawan and a couple of other names were seen doing an act in which they made comments about nepotism. This wasn’t taken kindly by some of the viewers. Dhawan has taken to Twitter to apologise.

The script of the act looked back at the nepotism debate sparked by Kangna Ranaut’s appearance on Karan Johar’s ‘Kofee with Karan’. “You are here because of your papa,” host Saif Ali Khan said, to which Varun replied, “And you’re here because of your mummy (veteran actress Sharmila Tagore).” Johar was then heard adding, “I am here because of my papa (late filmmaker Yash Johar).” They then said together, “Nepotism rocks”.

Dhawan, who always seem to be conscious of such repurcussions, has at least mentioned the reaction of the audience in his tweet.
