He is known as the King Khan of Bollywood for a reason. Shah Rukh Khan has managed to get women of all ages fall in love with him. Even when he’s played the not-so-lovable kinds on the silver screen, SRK has managed to win hearts. He has become the poster boy for the man you don’t just “want”, but “need” in your life. That could be attributed to the kind of person he is in real life.

By the superstar’s own admission, “My eyes are bedroom eyes, they are supposed to be sexy, they are not tired. Girls love these eyes.” And, there is truth in those words. Why do women love Shah Rukh Khan? Google this and you will find a ton of results. In fact, there’s a book by Shrayana Bhattacharya titled – “Desperately Seeking Shah Rukh: India’s Lonely Young Women and the Search for Intimacy and Independence.” This literature documents how the actor with 30-years of acting career has remained a constant across lives of women from different backgrounds. But what makes Shah Rukh Khan’s heart beat? Or rather who does SRK feel truly, madly, deeply for?

His career is not the only one to complete three decades, Khan’s been happily married for the last 31 years to Gauri Khan. As per Shah Rukh, he met his ladylove for the first time when he was in class seven. The rest as we all know is history.

SRK – The one-woman man

The idea of integrity and fidelity is woven into our understanding of true love. Especially in the Indian context, where a marriage is perceived as a sacred bond for the larger group. Shah Rukh Khan’s personal life lends to that narrative. The actor stands as much for love as he represents an ideal family guy. The ‘Pathaan’ (2023) actor made headlines when he declared wife Gauri as his first girlfriend during an AMA session online recently. It sent his fans and the media in a frenzy.

And while he has a successful career, the actor has always attributed it to his family, especially wife Gauri. He never forgets to acknowledge her presence in little and big ways.

Whether it is on ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’ (2008) or the numerous interviews that the actor has doled out in his 30-year career; Khan makes one believe that he worships that land that wife Gauri walks on. He’s the supportive husband and a doting dad. There are enough instances when we have heard those close to the couple talk about their love story. We all know how the actor came down to Mumbai in a love quest for Gauri. It was in fact, during this time that SRK vowed to rule the Maximum city one day and he did.

The Picture Perfect Family

SRK may be King Khan, but it is Queen bee Gauri who keeps this family tied together. She is not just the wind beneath his wings, but also the kintsugi that firms bonds every aspect of the actor’s life – his friends, fans and everybody else.

With three chrilder – Aryan, Suhana and AbRam – Shah Rukh and Gauri’s family portrait is complete. Add to that their eternal love story and we bet there would be a plot for a romantic movie on par with many others that the actor has worked in.

Whether it is Raj or Rahul, before any of his on screen characters there is no denying that it is the way SRK-Gauri love story had unfolded in real-life that makes one believe on the stories he lives on 70mm.
