The UK’s latest Bollywood movie channel, UTV Movies India will be the first Asian channel to join the official viewing data system, BARB at launch.

As exclusively revealed on BizAsia.co.uk, UTV Movies India is launching next month. According to reliable sources, the channel is most likely to join the Sky Digital EPG line-up on Monday 12th December. It will take over the EPG slot left vacant by South For You, which ceased operations in the UK a few weeks ago.

With UTV Movies India becoming a BARB reported channel, speculation is rife that the channel will either broadcast free-to-air or be a part of Sky Digital’s monthly package. Existing channels like Star Plus, Star Gold, Imagine Dil Se, Zing and Sunrise TV are also available in similar models to viewers.

The channel’s marketing and sales will be handled by Sky Media, however we are yet to receive confirmation on this from the broadcaster.

UTV Movies India will begin testing in the coming days ahead of its official launch.

UTV Movies will report its first BARB data on Sunday 1st January.
