Unlike the Khans, Akshay Kumar does not enjoy releasing films during festivals

Akshay Kumar

Over time, Eid, Diwali and Christmas have become the most exciting release dates for Bollywood films as the festivals ensure long holidays for the audience to watch the film. While Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are popularly known to have film releases during religious festivals, Akshay Kumar does not feel the need to do so with his films.

Speaking toFilmfare, Kumar said, “Because I’m a Kumar do things my way, in my own time, as many times as I want in a year. I rely on nothing and no one. I am what I am regardless of a festival, regardless of what I release and when I release it. I’ll never follow what others do, I never have, I never will. (Smiles)It’s one of the nicest perks of being a Kumar fan, you never know what you gonna get and when. Spontaneous love is what I give.”

Also unlike other top ranked actors, who do a minimal amount of films per year, Kumar has not lessened his work load. The actor has already been seen in 3 films this year: ‘Baby’, ‘Gabbar Is Back’ and ‘Brothers’, and will soon be seen in Prabhu Deva’s ‘Singh Is Bling’.

Starring Kumar opposite British actress Amy Jackson,’Singh Is Bling’ releases on 2nd October.
