“Actor, model, singer, newspaper columnist and now author.” This is how Bollywood star Ranveer Singh introduced his close friend and fellow superstar Priyanka Chopra Jonas during a candid conversation, broadcast live to hundreds of fans, journalists and media personalities.
The former Miss World, who is currently in London shooting for her next film, took time out to promote her recently released memoir, titled ‘Unfinished’. As she reflected back on days gone, Singh regaled the audience with anecdotes from the films ‘Gunday’ (2014), ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015) and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015), in which they both worked together in.
Starting off, Singh described Jonas as a multi-faceted personality and joked he was unsure which PeeCee (a nickname for Chopra Jonas) he would be talking to – whether it was the global icon American diva or his partner who once dirty danced with him to old Bollywood songs. Laughing at the memory, Jonas remembered the days when she and Singh would YouTube ‘Urmila Matondkar – Yai Re Yai Re and danced the whole night away to the infamous song from ‘Rangeela’ (1995).
Singh also recalled the time when he met with Chopra Jonas at a party hosted by producer Ritesh Sidhwani. Singh continued to share that, back then, the actress held court to share her experiences from Hollywood and other international projects. Singh described himself as a ‘Janaani’ who was standing next to PeeCee, wanting her to tell him more and give him all of the gossip.
Talking about the book, Chopra Jonas said that it had been named ‘Unfinished’ as life was yet unfinished. “And some things are only meant for yourself,” she added at the end. But despite some secrets being kept away from the memoirs, fans were reassured that it still had plenty of funny, profound and emotive anecdotes and memories included. Finishing off the live session, Singh asked Jonas what the future may hold for her. “I really don’t know,” she answered shrugging her shoulders. “Screenplay writing and direction is something I have thought about in the past. But I also still have about 40 songs on my laptop which I sang but never released. You never know, I may revisit it sometime in the future”, she said teasingly. Now that’s one thing I’m sure we all would love to see her finish…
