Ummah Channel to shutdown UK operations

Islamic religious service, Ummah Channel has confirmed that it will be shutting down operations this month.

As revealed first on BizAsia’s Media Industry Whisper here, the channel will cease broadcasting on Monday 31st July. The channel has been scrolling the following message on-screen: “Ummah Channel will no longer broadcasting from Monday 1st August from Sky platform – for further information please contact Team Ummah.”

Ummah Channel has reportedly sold its Sky EPG slot to another broadcaster but it is yet to be revealed, who has acquired it. Recently, there has been a demand for Sky EPG slots as the competition with major Indian and Urdu broadcasters intensify.

Previously, Ummah Channel’s sister channel, Muslim Ummah led to closure and its EPG slot was sold to Urdu news channel, UK 44.
