UK TV rights India and Australia cricket series

There has been quite a lot of you out there enquiring about who is telecasting the India & Australia series on UK TV. Well the answer is, no one knows…YET!

The much awaited India and Australia tests go ahead tomorrow (Wednesday 6th October) and due to the legal wrangle between heavyweights ZEE Network, ESPN Sports and the Indian Cricket Board, an international feed for the matches has not yet been confirmed.

There were reports last Friday that Sony Entertainment Television Asia had walked away with the rights but that had changed over the weekend with India’s national broadcaster Doordarshan taking over the TV rights. With no Doordarshan in the UK, who will the Indian Cricket Board sell the UK rights to? Will it be Sony or could it be ZEE? It may even turn out to be STAR Plus, it can be the dark horse! You just never know.

Nevertheless, we contacted Sony UK about this whole fiasco and they were unable to comment because they simply didn’t know themselves. Anyway today is D-Day! We’ll know for sure. Keep it with Biz Asia for the latest.

In other Indian cricket news, it has been confirmed that Sachin Tendulkar will NOT be playing in the first match between India and Australia tomorrow. Saurav Ganguly spoke out today saying that Tendulkar is not yet fully fit and could scupper his forthcoming matches.
