UK TV Reach: ZEE TV biggest riser at No.2; Star Gold & MTV Beats incur big loss

Star Plus continued to drop in weekly reach figures, in latest UK television data from BARB for week ending 20th May 2018.

Star Plus’ share stood at 565,000 viewers – down from 580,000 viewers last week. It was followed in the ratings by a re-surgent ZEE TV, which for the first time crossed the 300,000 mark. It recorded a reach of 304,000 viewers, followed by Sony Entertainment Television with 281,000 viewers, Hum Masala with 242,000 viewers, Hum TV with 229,000 viewers, Colors with 222,000 viewers, &TV with 204,000 viewers, Geo TV with 159,000 viewers, Sony SAB TV and ATN Bangla with 146,000 viewers, Rishtey with 144,000 viewers, Zing with 137,000 viewers, Prime TV with 136,000 viewers, Star Bharat with 132,000 viewers, PTV Global with 124,000 viewers and Geo Kahani with 118,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTC Punjabi with 100,000 viewers, NTV Europe with 95,000 viewers, Living Foodz with 85,000 viewers, Iqra TV with 82,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 77,000 viewers, Venus TV with 62,000 viewers, Urdu 1 Europe with 24,000 viewers and TV99 with zero.

Movie genre
Sony MAX fetched a reach of 333,000 viewers, making it the top South Asian movie channel, followed by ZEE Cinema with 304,000 viewers, Rishtey Cineplex with 190,000 viewers, Star Gold with 175,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 117,000 viewers.

Music genre
B4U Music remained the top South Asian music channel in the UK, despite losing a chunk of its audience. Its reach stood at 107,000 viewers, followed by BritAsia TV with 88,000 viewers, Sony Mix with 80,000 viewers and MTV Beats slumped to 17,000 viewers.

News genre
Geo TV was top South Asian news channel in the UK with a reach of 169,000 viewers, followed by New Vision TV with 165,000 viewers, followed by Dunya News with 159,000 viewers, Samaa TV with 139,000 viewers, 92 News with 136,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 122,000 viewers and UK 44 with 112,000 viewers. The next tier consisted of ABP News with 83,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 77,000 viewers and News18 with 28,000 viewers.
