UK TV Reach: Star Plus & ZEE Cinema end 2017 on a high

With consolidated audience figures for the final week of 2017 in, Star Plus emerged as the biggest Asian TV channel in the UK, while ZEE Cinema touched a record high, according to BARB data for week ending Sunday 31st December 2017.

Star Plus did well with a reach of 791,000 viewers, followed by Zing with 384,000 viewers, Colors with 377,000 viewers, Sony Entertainment Television with 384,000 viewers, Hum TV with 361,000 viewers, Sony SAB TV with 351,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 323,000 viewers, &TV with 285,000 viewers, Star Bharat with 254,000 viewers and Hum Masala with 246,000 viewers.

Geo TV was in the next tier with 240,000 viewers, followed by ZEE TV with 219,000 viewers, Rishtey with 204,000 viewers, Prime TV with 189,000 viewers, NTV Europe with 177,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 157,000 viewers, Venus TV with 143,000 viewers, Geo Kahani with 133,000 viewers, Star Utsav with 131,000 viewers, PTV Global with 130,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 114,000 viewers, ZEE Punjabi with 102,000 viewers, Urdu 1 Europe with 53,000 viewers and A Plus Europe dropped to a new low of just 20,000 viewers.

Movies genre
ZEE Cinema took the No.1 position on the back of a strong movie line-up during Christmas week. The channel delivered a record high weekly reach of 481,000 viewers, followed by Star Gold with 393,000 viewers, Sony MAX with 381,000 viewers, Rishtey Cineplex with 324,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 226,000 viewers.

Music genre
B4U Music remained the UK’s top Asian music channel with a reach of 284,000 viewers, followed by Brit Asia TV with 212,000 viewers, MTV Beats with 150,000 viewers and Sony Mix with 75,000 viewers.

News genre
Geo News stayed above the rest as the UK’s top South Asian news channel with a reach of 285,000 viewers, followed by UK 44 with 240,000 viewers, Dunya News with 233,000 viewers, ABP News with 168,000 viewers, Samaa TV with 162,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 146,000 viewers and New Vision TV with 139,000 viewers. The next in the batch were NDTV 24×7 with 86,000 viewers, News18 with 8,000 viewers and Times Now with 0 (due to fire affecting Times Now UK transmission).
