UK TV Reach: Star Plus reigns; ZEE TV struggles near 100k

Star Plus remained the UK’s top Asian TV channel, while ZEE TV slumped to a weekly reach low of near 100,000 viewers, according to official data from BARB for week ending 7th January 2018.

Star Plus delivered a reach of 658,000 viewers, followed by Hum TV with 385,000 viewers, Colors with 322,000 viewers, Zing with 309,000 viewers, Sony Entertainment Television with 285,000 viewers, Hum Masala with 272,000 viewers, &TV with 270,000 viewers, Sony SAB TV with 263,000 viewers, Star Bharat with 245,000 viewers, Geo TV with 221,000 viewers and Prime TV with 206,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTC Punjabi with 193,000 viewers, Venus TV with 171,000 viewers, Rishtey with 152,000 viewers, NTV Europe with 119,000 viewers, ZEE TV with 109,000 viewers, ZEE Punjabi with 108,000 viewers, PTV Global with 92,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 95,000 viewers, Urdu 1 Europe with 92,000 viewers, Geo Kahani with 79,000 viewers, ARY Family with 37,000 viewers, A Plus Europe with 26,000 viewers.

Movie genre
Star Gold returned to the No.1 position in the movie genre in UK with a reach of 400,000 viewers, followed by ZEE Cinema with 345,000 viewers, Sony MAX with 341,000 viewers, Rishtey Cineplex with 310,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 298,000 viewers.

Music genre
B4U Music stayed strong on top with 294,000 viewers, followed by Brit Asia TV with 135,000 viewers, Sony Mix with 40,000 viewers and MTV Beats with 28,000 viewers.

News genre
New Vision TV took reigns in the South Asian news genre with 191,000 viewers, followed by ABP News with 189,000 viewers, Geo News with 176,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 165,000 viewers and Aaj Tak with 102,000 viewers. The next batch of channels were Dunya News with 86,000 viewers, Samaa TV with 80,000 viewers, 92 News with 76,000 viewers and News18 with 13,000 viewers. Times Now with 0 (due to fire affecting Times Now UK transmission).
