UK TV Reach: Star Plus & Geo News extend lead

Star Plus got close to touch 1 million viewers in latest weekly reach data, while Geo News was firm favourite as the most watched South Asian news channel, according to official data from BARB for week ending Sunday 23rd April 2017.

Star Plus delivered 926,000 viewers – surging from 782,000 viewers last week. ‘Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil’ propelled the channel’s rating with 242,000 viewers on Tuesday night – making it the most watched show in the UK the entire week. The show entered the list four times in the Top 10 list of the channel.

The others in the pecking order were Rishtey Cineplex with 537,000 viewers, Star Gold with 517,000 viewers, Sony SAB TV with 508,000 viewers, Colors with 437,000 viewers, &TV with 390,000 viewers, B4U Music with 388,000 viewers, Hum TV with 354,000 viewers, Zing with 348,000 viewers, Life OK with 274,000 viewers and Prime TV with 265,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTC Punjabi with 199,000 viewers, Geo TV with 196,000 viewers, Venus TV with 190,000 viewers, PTV Global with 176,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 141,000 viewers, Star Utsav with 140,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 109,000 viewers, A Plus with 45,000 viewers and SEE TV with 20,000 viewers.

The top rated South Asian news channel was Geo News with 310,000 viewers (last week 305,000 viewers), followed by Dunya News with 198,000 viewers, Samaa TV with 181,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 173,000 viewers and NDTV 24×7 with 169,000 viewers. ABP News and Aaj Tak were tied with 106,000 viewers each. UK 44 dropped to 89,000 viewers, Times Now with 42,000 viewers and News18 with 32,000 viewers.
