UK TV Reach: Star Plus extends lead; Sony TV at No.2

Despite its share taking a battering over the past few days, Star Plus remained the UK’s No.1 Asian TV channel in weekly reach data, released by BARB for week ending Sunday 3rd June.

Star Plus extended its lead over its rival with a reach of 598,000 viewers (last week 526,000 viewers), followed by Sony Entertainment Television with 345,000 viewers, Hum TV with 324,000 viewers, ZEE TV with 297,000 viewers, Colors with 283,000 viewers, Star Bharat with 254,000 viewers, Hum Masala with 230,000 viewers, Rishtey with 228,000 viewers, Zing with 190,000 viewers, Sony SAB TV with 169,000 viewers, &TV with 168,000 viewers, Geo TV with 151,000 viewers and Prime TV with 133,000 viewers.

The next tier consisted of PTV Global with 116,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 108,000 viewers, Living Foodz with 107,000 viewers, ARY Family with 99,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 75,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 65,000 viewers, Iqra TV with 60,000 viewers, NTV Europe and Urdu 1 Europe with 40,000 viewers, Venus TV with 36,000 viewers and Geo Kahani with 22,000 viewers.

Movie genre
ZEE Cinema grabbed the No.1 position in latest UK weekly reach data. The channel delivered a reach of 318,000 viewers, followed by Star Gold with 278,000 viewers, Sony MAX with 259,000 viewers, Rishtey Cineplex with 208,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 195,000 viewers.

Music genre
B4U Music led the South Asian music genre with 157,000 viewers, followed by Sony Mix with 102,000 viewers, BritAsia TV with 90,000 viewers and MTV Beats with 26,000 viewers.

News genre
New Vision TV remained the UK’s favourite South Asian news channel with a reach of 194,000 viewers, followed by Samaa TV with 158,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 132,000 viewers, UK 44 with 127,000 viewers, Geo News with 126,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 107,000 viewers, ABP News with 88,000 viewers, Dunya News with 86,000 viewers, 92 News with 85,000 viewers and News18 with 5,000 viewers.
