UK TV Reach: Star Plus drops to 700k

Star Plus’ weekly reach has dropped to around 700,000 viewers in latest data released by BARB for week ending Sunday 19th June 2016.

The warm weather, combined with Ramadhan and Euro 2016, could be reasons for the drastic drop in reach. The channel attracted just 774,000 viewers – one of its lowest figures in years. It was down from 906,000 viewers last week. Hum TV secured second place with 545,000 viewers (last week 474,000 viewers) and &TV in third with 531,000 viewers. Rishtey was in fourth with 509,000 viewers (last week 524,000 viewers), followed by UMP Movies with 479,000 viewers (last week 530,000 viewers) and Colors with 386,000 viewers (last week 374,000 viewers).

The next tier consisted of Life Ok with 364,000 viewers, SAB TV with 317,000 viewers, Zing with 311,000 viewers, Prime TV with 270,000 viewers, Star Gold with 249,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 201,000 viewers, PTV Global with 199,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 148,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 138,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 104,000 viewers and Venus TV with 102,000 viewers.

On the news front, ARY News dominated with 354,000 viewers (last week 520,000 viewers), followed by Geo Tez with 254,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 246,000 viewers, Geo News with 232,000 viewers and Dunya TV with 201,000 viewers. Aaj Tak was next with 176,000 viewers, followed by NDTV 24×7 with 165,000 viewers, ABP News with 108,000 viewers, Times Now with 30,000 viewers and News18 with 26,000 viewers.
