UK TV Reach: Star Plus declines but stays firmly at No.1

Star Plus felt the pinch from rival channels in latest weekly reach data but stayed firmly as the UK’s most watched Asian TV channel.

According to BARB figures for week ending Sunday 14th January, Star Plus delivered a reach of 574,000 viewers, followed by &TV with 315,000 viewers, Sony Entertainment Television with 306,000 viewers, Hum TV with 314,000 viewers, Colors and Star Bharat with 297,000 viewers, Zing with 267,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 247,000 viewers, Hum Masala with 224,000 viewers and ZEE TV with 215,000 viewers.

The next tier consisted of Geo TV with 175,000 viewers, Sony SAB TV with 170,000 viewers, NTV with 169,000 viewers, Prime TV with 141,000 viewers, Rishtey with 133,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 124,000 viewers, Urdu 1 Europe with 105,000 viewers, ZEE Punjabi with 100,000 viewers, Venus TV with 83,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 76,000 viewers, Geo Kahani with 75,000 viewers, PTV Global with 64,000 viewers, A Plus Europe with 52,000 viewers and ARY Family with 14,000 viewers.

Movie genre
Star Gold remained the dominant channel with a reach of 452,000 viewers, followed by Sony MAX with 328,000 viewers, ZEE Cinema with 306,000 viewers, Rishtey Cineplex with 305,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 267,000 viewers.

Music genre
B4U Music stayed ahead of its rivals with a reach of 279,000 viewers, followed by MTV Beats with 161,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 147,000 viewers and Sony Mix with 98,000 viewers.

News genre
Geo News emerged as the No.1 South Asian news channel with 196,000 viewers, followed by Aaj Tak with 171,000 viewers, ABP News with 169,000 viewers, New Vision TV with 121,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 106,000 viewers and Dunya News with 100,000 viewers. The next in the pecking order were Samaa TV with 83,000 viewers, 92 News with 66,000 viewers, UK 44 with 60,000 viewers, Times Now with 19,000 viewers and News18 with 0.
