UK TV Reach: SAB TV takes No.2 slot

SAB TV has emerged as the No.2 Asian channel in the UK after delivering record viewing figures, according to official data from BARB for week ending 20th March 2016.

Star Plus remained the UK’s most watched Asian broadcaster with a weekly reach of 922,000 viewers (last week 956,000 viewers), with SAB TV attracting its bigger ever audience with a reach of 723,000 viewers. Going by consolidated data for SAB TV during the week, the UK television premiere of ‘Dilwale’ on Sunday pulled in 153,000 viewers, followed by ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ on the same day with 48,000 viewers and a special ‘UK Red Carpet of Dilwale’ at 19:30 with 43,000 viewers. SAB TV has delivered the biggest audience in its UK history and has beaten bigger entertainment channels during the same period.

The rest of the ratings data consisted of UMP Movies with 620,000 viewers (last week 618,000 viewers), followed by Rishtey with 597,000 viewers (last week 692,000 viewers), Star Gold with 554,000 viewers (last week 516,000 viewers), Zing with 542,000 viewers (last week 471,000 viewers), Colors with 521,000 viewers (last week 501,000 viewers) and Hum TV with 484,000 viewers (last week 505,000 viewers).

The next tier consisted of &TV with 418,000 viewers (last week 577,000 viewers), Geo TV with 377,000 viewers (last week 285,000 viewers), Prime TV with 358,000 viewers (last week 245,000 viewers) and Life Ok with 355,000 viewers (last week 384,000 viewers).

The bottom tier consisted of PTC Punjabi with 233,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 156,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 136,000 viewers, TV 99 with 107,000 viewers, Venus TV with 103,000 viewers, PTV Global with 88,000 viewers and Akaal Channel with 87,000 viewers.

ARY News was the nation’s most watched South Asian news channel with 493,000 viewers (last week 420,000 viewers), followed by Geo News with 321,000 viewers, ABP News with 260,000 viewers, Dunya News with 236,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 220,000 viewers and Geo Tez with 218,000 viewers. The next tier consisted of Aaj Tak with 204,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 131,000 viewers and News18 with 50,000 viewers.
