UK TV Reach: PSL 2017 pushes Geo TV ahead

The Pakistan Super League continued to spring magic on UK Asian TV broadcasters in latest weekly reach data, according to BARB.

Geo TV beat Hum TV after a long time in data provided for week ending Sunday 5th March. The finale of the Pakistan Super League gave the channel a big push with an audience of 341,000 viewers (last week 228,000 viewers), while Hum TV could only garner 295,000 viewers (last week 395,000 viewers). The leading Pakistani channel in the genre was Prime TV – again on the back of Pakistan Super League, with a reach of 393,000 viewers (last week 334,000 viewers). PTV Global registered 131,000 viewers and A Plus Europe remained above the 100,000 mark with 115,000 viewers.

The UK’s most watched Asian TV channel overall remained Star Plus with 955,000 viewers (last week 917,000 viewers), followed by &TV with 552,000 viewers (last week 572,000 viewers) and Star Gold with 515,000 viewers (last week 537,000 viewers). Rishtey Cineplex was in fourth with 482,000 viewers and Colors with 469,000 viewers.

The next tier consisted of Sony SAB TV with 432,000 viewers, followed by Rishtey with 406,000 viewers, Zing with 377,000 viewers, B4U Music with 369,000 viewers, Life OK with 361,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 193,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 176,000 viewers, Venus TV with 128,000 viewers, Star Utsav with 122,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 94,000 viewers,

Geo News led the South Asian news genre in the UK with 291,000 viewers, followed by Samaa TV with 214,000 viewers and Dunya News with 192,000 viewers. Geo Tez recorded 185,000 viewers, followed by NDTV 24×7 with 154,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 105,000 viewers, UK 44 with 102,000 viewers, ABP News with 90,000 viewers, Times Now with 74,000 viewers and News18 with 34,000 viewers.
