UK TV Reach: News18 & Dunya TV slump to new low

Two Asian news channels witnessed a drastic drop in their weekly reach, according to official data for week ending 21st February 2016.

While ARY News remained the most watched South Asian news service with 489,000 viewers (last week 422,000), followed by Geo News with 303,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 244,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 228,000 viewers, ABP News with 190,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 154,000 viewers and NDTV 24×7 with 136,000 viewers. Dunya TV slumped to just 103,000 viewers (last week 182,000 viewers) and News18 India woes continued after it dropped from 32,000 viewers to just 12,000 viewers.

In the entertainment genre, Star Plus remained the nation’s favourite channel with 936,000 viewers (last week 1,075,000 viewers), followed by UMP Movies with 759,000 viewers (last week 719,000 viewers) and &TV slipped to third with 643,000 viewers (last week 728,000 viewers). Star Gold was in fourth with 610,000 viewers and Rishtey in fifth with 578,000 viewers.

The next tier consisted of Hum TV with 554,000 viewers, SAB TV with 542,000 viewers, Colors with 536,000 viewers, Zing with 517,000 viewers, Prime TV with 438,000 viewers and Life Ok with 329,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTC Punjabi with 282,000 viewers, Geo TV with 275,000 viewers, Venus TV with 213,000 viewers, TV 99 with 173,000 viewers, PTV Global with 192,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 183,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 121,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 114,000 viewers. DM Global registered zero.
