UK TV Reach: Geo News topples ARY News

Geo News has toppled ARY News in latest UK television reach data for the first time, according to official data from BARB for week ending Sunday 10th July.

Geo News has steadily been climbing up the ratings chart, coming just inches of overtaking its old rival. Finally, Geo News overtook ARY News – but only just! Geo News delivered a reach of 483,000 viewers (last week 251,000 viewers), compared to ARY News in a close second position with 469,000 viewers (last week 469,000 viewers). It will be interesting to see if Geo News can maintain its position or was it a temporary blip, with ARY News returning to top next week. The others in the pecking order were Geo Tez with 291,000 viewers, SAMAA TV with 285,000 viewers, Dunya TV with 205,000 viewers, ABP News with 171,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 149,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 122,000 viewers, Times Now with 51,000 viewers and News18 with 26,000 viewers.

In the entertainment genre, Star Plus remained the UK’s No.1 Asian channel with 908,000 viewers (last week 876,000 viewers), followed by a re-surgent Colors with 542,000 viewers (last week 445,000 viewers) helped by the broadcast of IIFA 2016. &TV was in third with 535,000 viewers (last week 585,000 viewers), followed by UMP Movies with 523,000 viewers (last week 603,000 viewers), Hum TV with 509,000 viewers (last week 435,000 viewers) and Rishtey with 488,000 viewers (last week 456,000 viewers).

The next tier consisted of Star Gold with 439,000 viewers, Zing with 422,000 viewers, Life Ok with 367,000 viewers, SAB TV with 354,000 viewers, Geo TV with 306,000 viewers and Prime TV with 265,000 viewers.

The bottom tier consisted of PTV Global with 225,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 217,000 viewers, Venus TV with 154,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 145,000 viewers, Sikh Channel with 93,000 viewers and Akaal Channel with 84,000 viewers.
