In a first, Indian news channels overtook Pakistani news services in UK ratings, according to weekly reach data for week ending 8th April 2018.
Geo News and New Vision TV that have dominated the South Asian news genre for months, witnessed competition from Indian news channels. ABP News was the biggest news channel with a reach of 226,000 viewers and NDTV 24×7 with 200,000 viewers. Geo News slipped to No.3 with 140,000 viewers. Samaa TV raked in a reach of 136,000 viewers, followed by Aaj Tak with 119,000 viewers, Dunya News with 96,000 viewers, New Vision TV with 94,000 viewers, 92 News with 61,000 viewers, UK 44 with 46,000 viewers and News18 with 14,000 viewers.
Star Plus registered a reach of 571,000 viewers, followed by Zing with 360,000 viewers, Sony Entertainment Television with 346,000 viewers, Hum TV with 320,000 viewers, Hum Masala with 276,000 viewers and Star Bharat with 275,000 viewers.
The next tier consisted of Sony SAB TV with 286,000 viewers, ZEE TV and Colors with 256,000 viewers, &TV with 217,000 viewers, Prime TV with 186,000 viewers, Rishtey with 182,000 viewers, NTV Europe with 180,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 172,000 viewers, ATN Bangla with 148,000 viewers, Venus TV with 132,000 viewers, Geo Kahani with 121,000 viewers, Geo TV with 120,000 viewers, Living Foodz with 73,000 viewers, PTV Global and ARY Family with 47,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 25,000 viewers and Urdu 1 Europe with 11,000 viewers.
Star Gold remained the firm favourite Indian film channel with a reach of 437,000 viewers, followed by Rishtey Cineplex with 365,000 viewers, Sony MAX with 364,000 viewers, ZEE Cinema with 314,000 viewers and B4U Movies with 199,000 viewers.
B4U Music led the Indian music genre with a reach of 280,000 viewers, followed by MTV Beats with 110,000 viewers, Sony Mix with 94,000 viewers and Brit Asia TV with 88,000 viewers.
