The latest round of weekly reach data from BARB has surprised many with promising viewing figures for both Zing and Sony SAB TV.
According to data released by BARB for week ending Sunday 25th November, Zing had a weekly reach of 558,000 – one of the best ratings for the channel in history. Sony SAB TV also had touched a high with 227,000 – again, one of the best ratings for the channel since it launched on BARB.
According to exclusive information obtained by BizAsia, Zing’s top rated shows during that week were ‘World Of Bollywood’ aired at 18:00 with an audience of 6,900 on Monday 19th November, followed by 29,800 on Tuesday 20th November, then climbing to an audience high of 44,100 on Wednesday 21st November.
Over on Sony SAB TV, ‘Jeanie Aur Juju’ and ‘Baal Veer’ have both been performing tremendously for the channel with an average audience of 15,000 regularly tuning in at 19:00 and 20:00 respectively. ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasma’ on Friday evening at 20:30 got the channel a rating of 23,100.
Amongst other channels, Star Plus managed to remain the UK’s most watched Hindi entertainment channel with a weekly reach of 1,148. UMP Movies pushed its way back up to the second slot with 729,000. Rishtey was in third with 679,000. Star Gold was in fourth with 548,000. Zing in fifth and Star Life Ok with 527,000 in sixth.
Sony SAB TV was in the bottom tier, followed by Sahara One with 261,000. UMP Stars with its repeat programming was hovering around in last with 221,000. 9XM was on the way up with 109,000.
Al Jazeera English broke the 1 million barrier for the first time with 1,050,000 tuning, followed by ARY News with 405,000 and Aaj Tak with 269,000.
